Crochet Projects

I recently made this doily for my mom, as her previous one
that she liked had been crocheted a little too loosely, and consequently
had gotten stretched out over time.  It had been awhile since I had
worked with such a small crochet hook and yarn, so it took a little
bit to get used to it again. :)

And this baby blanket (destined for my Etsy shop)
is another project I just completed this past week.
Now I just need to take the time to get some good
photos taken of it so I can get it listed on there! :)

The doily looks like it turned out beautiful! It's been ages since I last crocheted anything; I do remember how it seemed funny to use such a small hook when making dollies though! :)

The baby blanket also looks really nice! I love the colours! :)

The doily you crocheted is beautiful! Crocheting doilies is time consuming, but the end results are worth it!

That doily is very beautiful! And that baby blanket looks so soft and cozy. What kind of stitch did you use to make it?
How did you make the border? I made my very first baby blanket recently. It's only about 13 inches or so. It's meant to cover a baby's lap while they're in a car seat or sitting down. But I want to crochet a large blanket someday. :)

Thank you, Ashley! The baby afghan pattern used a combination of stitches, but the main one was a shell stitch. There are various shell stitches out there, so it's hard to tell you how it's done unless I shared the pattern with you, which perhaps I could do if you were interested. :) Basically it was something like: 2 dc, chain 2, 2 dc. As for the border, it was again made of shell stitches, just varying them slightly. If you'd like any further details, just let me know!

Thank y so much for writing me back. I've heard of. The shell stitch before, but never tried it. Do you do 2 double crochet, chain 2, and 2 double crochet in the same loop or stitch? I don't know how to read patterns, but thank you for offering to send it to me. I crochet items by watching videos online on how to do it. :)
Your crocheted items in your shop are really adorable. Especially the little hats. :)

Ashley

Ashley,
Yes, you do 2 double crochet, chain 2, 2 double crochet in the same stitch. You then skip 2 stitches and single crochet in next st, and repeat across. It's a little hard for me to explain the pattern since the shell stitch isn't the only stitch used in the other rows. The next row (to make the upside down "V" shaped spaces that you see) is then something like: (single crochet in chain 2 space, chain 2, double crochet in single crochet between shell stitches, chain 2) repeat across. I hope this helps!
