Never a Time...

There is never a time, in any circumstance,
that God is not praise-worthy.

Trust in Him at all timesye people, pour out your heart
before Him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

More like Jesus

"It is impossible to suggest that a person can encounter the holy God of Scripture and
be saved without also coming to grips with the horrible nature of his own sin, and
consequently longing to turn from it."-unknown

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after
righteousness: for they shall be filled.
 -Matthew 5:6

MORE LIKE JESUS

More like Jesus would I be, let my Savior dwell with me;
Fill my soul with peace and love—make me gentle as a dove;
More like Jesus, while I go, pilgrim in this world below;
Poor in spirit would I be; let my Savior dwell in me.

If He hears the raven’s cry, if His ever watchful eye
Marks the sparrows when they fall, surely He will hear my call:
He will teach me how to live, all my sinful thoughts forgive;
Pure in heart I still would be—let my Savior dwell in me.

More like Jesus when I pray, more like Jesus day by day,
May I rest me by His side, where the tranquil waters glide.
Born of Him through grace renewed, by His love my will subdued,
Rich in faith I still would be—let my Savior dwell in me.

-by Fanny Crosby

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and
renew a right spirit within me.

The Godly view of sin

Ezra spoke:

And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens. -Ezra 9:6

The Psalmist said:

Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law. -Psalms 119:136

Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law. -Psalms 119:53

Daniel, a man "greatly beloved" of God said this:

O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. -Daniel 9:8

And Job, whom the Lord tells us walked perfect and upright before Him, when he saw the glory of God he said this of himself:

Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth. -Job 40:4

The publican felt this way of himself, and said these words:

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. -Luke 18:13

 --------------------------

Have you personally seen yourself this way? It's not something optional for just the most spiritual saints of God. Sorrow for sin is a very mark and proof of those who are truly convicted of their sins by the Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus Christ said:

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
-Matthew 5:3

"Until one sees his own poverty, he cannot see God's riches. It is only God who can make us recognize our poverty that He might make us rich. It is only God who can make us lowly in heart that He might lift us up." -Selected

When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
-Mark 2:17

*********************

Praise the Lord, there is full forgiveness to be found through Jesus Christ!

If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord,
who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee,
that thou mayest be feared.
-Psalm 130:3-4

Much more then, being now justified by His blood,
we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
-Romans 5:9

Unto you therefore which believe He is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, -1 Peter 2:7

Something to think about: Is the Lord Jesus Christ precious to you

The consequences of sin

Sin has consequences.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Galatians 6:7-8

----------------------------------

Sin is destructive

He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. -Proverbs 29:1

------------------------------------

Sin hinders our prayers

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

-Psalms 66:18

------------------------------------

Sin defiles

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. -James 3:6

------------------------------------

Sin enslaves in bondage.

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? -Romans 6:16
----------------------------------

Sin separates. It separates the child of God from fellowship with Him. It will separate the lost from Him eternally in Hell.

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear

-Isaiah 59:2

But He shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. -Luke 13:27-28

--------------------------------

Sin can have eternal consequences even to those who are saved. A consequence of loss.

If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. -1 Corinthians 3:15

-------------------------------

Sin is deadly.

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
-James 1:15

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. -Revelation 21:8

------------------------------

All sin is serious. All sin is terrible. All sin is destructive. All sin is deadlyOh may we pray for eyes to see how awful, how terrible all sin is, and to be enabled to
turn from it by God's grace! And more than that, may we pray for Him to shew us what is sin in His eyes. For "Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts." -Proverbs 21:2

Quicken Thou our hearts, O God,

In earnestness I plead!
Let sin and all it's "pleasures"
Become our greatest grief.

Who can understand his errors? cleanse Thou me
from secret faults
-Psalms 19:12

Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because
they keep not Thy law.
-Psalms 119:136

-------------------------------------------

But there is sweet consolation for all those who are burdened with and hate sin....the precious blood of Jesus Christ can cleanse and make you whole.

The Lord Jesus said:  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. -Matthew 11:28

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? -Hebrews 9:14

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

-Romans 6:23

The terribleness of sin

"Where there is no repentance, rest assured there is no faith in Christ; but where there is true repentance--that godly sorrow for sin that needeth not to be repented of--rest assured there you will find faith to trust Christ for full and free forgiveness of all your sins." -L. Justice

"For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death." -2 Corinthians 7:10

No sin against God can be little, because it's against the
great God of Heaven and earth.- John Bunyan

He that has slight thoughts about sin,
never had any great thoughts about God. - John Owen

*********
Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward Godand faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
-Acts 20:21

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. -John 1:29 So very thankful for the precious Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ cleansing me from my many, many sins. Has He cleansed your sins?
