God's Word Is...

 

LIGHT:  Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105

SEED: The seed is the word of God. Luke 8:11b

BREAD:....know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth 

out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live. Deuteronomy 8:3b

MILK: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. 1 Peter 2:2

MEAT: But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, Hebrews 5:14a

GOLD: More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: Psalm 19:10a

HONEY: ...sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Psalm 19:10b

SWORD: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

FIRE: Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; -Jeremiah 23:29a 

HAMMER: ...and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? Jeremiah 23:29b

The Bible reveals the mind of God,

 The state of man, 

The way of salvation, 
The doom of sinners, 
And the happiness of believers.

Its author is God, 

Its writers were men, 

It is infallibly inspired. 

It is given you in life, 

Will be opened at the judgment, 

And will endure forever. 

It is a mine of wealth, 

A river of pleasure, 

A paradise of glory. 

God's glory is its end, 

The Lord Jesus Christ 

Is its wonderful object 

And our good its design.

Its histories are true, 

Its doctrines are holy,

Its precepts binding.

It contains light to direct you, 
Food to support you, 
And comfort to cheer you.

 It should fill the memory, 
Rule the heart, 
 And guide the feet.

It involves the highest responsibility, 
Rewards the greatest labor, 
And will condemn all who trifle 
With its sacred contents.

Read it thoughtfully,

Read it frequently,

Read it prayerfully.

Read it to be wise,

Believe it to be safe, 

Practice it to be holy, 

Memorize it to grow.
