Wait for Him

I cannot remember how I came across this hymn (and perhaps others of you already are familiar with it?)- but it has been such
a blessing to me in times of discouragement when even though I had confidence from God's Word what I was asking is His will, a long time had still passed without receiving the answer. I thought it would be good to share it here with others. I wrote it down on a paper in my Bible, to read often. Though some prayers I still have not seen answered that I am confident are His will, still I must often be reminded to "wait for Him, wait for Him", and plead His sure promises...for it's easy for me to become discouraged when I am not remembering daily His promises, and claiming them by His grace. I pray this hymn is as much of a blessing to you as it is to me!
If you are interested in hearing the melody, it can be downloaded on this page HERE.

WAIT FOR HIM, WAIT FOR HIM

Do thy prayers to God seem unavailing?
Wait for Him, wait for Him;
Are thine eyes from looking upward, failing?
Wait for Him, wait for Him;
If you plead his promise sure,
And your faith in Him endure,
You the answer shall secure;
Wait for Him, wait for Him.

 "Has the Lord forgotten?" art thou saying?
Wait for Him, wait for Him;
Tho' He tarry long, still keep on praying,
Wait for Him, wait for Him;
Patience gains by waiting long;
Faith, by waiting, groweth strong;
In the night Hope learns her song--
Wait for Him, wait for Him.

His delaying does not mean denying--
Wait for Him, wait for Him;
He doth mark thy bitter tears, thy sighing--
Wait for Him, wait for Him;
There's a reason all unguessed
Why thy heart is yet unblessed;
Oh, believe He knoweth best--
Wait for Him, wait for Him.

 God is true and faithful! doubt it never!
Wait for Him, wait for Him;
He will keep His covenant forever--
Wait for Him, wait for Him;
Heav'n and earth shall pass away,
But His word abides for aye;
God will answer thee some day--
Wait for Him, wait for Him.

Thank you for sharing this hymn! I have never heard it before. I can see how it would be very encouraging.
At a time when I was going through a very difficult situation and feeling as though God didn't care I clung to Job 13:15, Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
I still don't know why things happened the way they did. And I may never have answers. But I have to accept that, and trust that God still loves me. He does give me so many good things! Eternal life is the most valuable gift He has given to me! If I never get anything else from God I still have a reason to thank Him all the days of my life!

Thank you so much for sharing that - it really touched me, and was an encouragement. I'm so glad the Lord gave you a particular verse to cling to in hard times...sometimes I often have a verse like that - even though there are many other verses in God's Word, a particular one stands out and becomes one to claim and make "my own". That is so true that we have much to be thankful to the Lord for - especially in salvation! It's easy for me to get focused on other things without stopping to consider all the good things He has done for me, and to thank Him. "Bless the LORD, O my soul, aand forget not all His benefits.". Thank you very much for your comment!

I appreciate so much your sharing this hymn with us. It is so difficult to wait on the Lord. I want things to happen quickly, but that is not God's way. My daily prayer is Psalm 139:23 & 24  Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. and then Psalm 51:10  Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. I need Him to search me daily and to keep me in the Center of His will. Your blog is always a blessing to me. Thank you for being a light to others. Hugs

Your comments bless me very much as well...thank you so much for taking the time to write your thoughts. Those are wonderful verses to pray - Psalm 139:23-25 is one that my dad has often encouraged us in the family to make out own prayer as well.

I have never heard this song, but I sure needed to read those lyrics tonight. Waiting on the Lord for breakthrough and trusting in Him with all my heart.

Hello Sunshine County - That's a nice poem. My pastor pointed out, a couple months ago, that God has given us the best that He had to offer in the form of His Son. Surely, He will give us everything else that we need, with the goal of conforming us to Image (Rom. 8:29).

Your blog title reminds me of a little book "Sunshine Country" by Kristina Royovej. Have you read it?

Hello, Yes, I have read Kristina Roy's book, and my blog title was inspired by that. :)
