Discerning God's Will

These three things, the Word of God, the inward impression,
and the open door, should be present in every clear indication
of the will of God. If any one of them is missing it
indicates that the will of God is not yet clear.

A Project

I started crocheting this tablecloth quite some time ago,
and have been slowly working on it when I find the time
 (mostly during the winter months).
I've always liked old-fashioned type things, and thought it would
be kind of neat to try making a tablecloth, but I'll have to admit that
I've wondered at times if I made a big mistake after starting on it after seeing just how much work it involves. :) I'm about 1/3 the way done with it now, and hopefully can get it finished
before too much more time goes by. :)

Verse of the Week

I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people:
I will sing unto thee among the nations. For thy
mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy
truth unto the clouds.

Psalm 57:9-10

Frosted Canning Jar

While visiting my sister recently, I had the opportunity to make a stenciled
canning jar candle holder with some frosted glass spray paint that she had.
It was fun giving it a try!

I made a makeshift stencil with a piece of paper, and
taped it to the glass (double-sided tape would work great for this, or
you could maybe lightly glue it in place and peel it up later).

I then sprayed two coats of this Frosted Glass spray paint,
and waited for it to dry before peeling up the paper stencil.
Here's how it turned out. :)

Here's another picture that I found online of some jars that someone else did.
I might like to try this for the Fourth of July this year!

A Quote

"Set not your hearts on the flowers of this world. They shall fade and die.
Prize the Rose of Sharon and the Lily of the Valley. He changes not!
Live nearer to Christ than to any person on this earth; so that when
they are taken, you may have Him to love and lean upon."

A Website Recommendation

Local Church Bible Publishers
(Click on the above picture to visit the website)

Some time ago, a friend recommended this website to our family. I was impressed after reading the history of the beginning of the Local Church Bible Publishers ministry, and seeing that they print only King James Version Bibles--and sell them at cost. I think it is wonderful that there is a ministry out there run by Christians who are printing and selling God's Word, and who aren't trying to make a profit for themselves from it. I haven't yet bought a Bible from them, but I hope to soon! I would encourage you to go on over and take a look at their website!

Holiness (Part Two)

"From sin, then in every sense and aspect, God is calling us. As exceeding sinful, the abominable thing which He hates and will avenge, He warns us against it. ...

...From all unholiness, from all corruption,
from all crooked ways, from all disobedience,
from all filthiness of the flesh [God] is calling us,
in Christ Jesus His Son."

He then that would be holy must be like Christ, and he that would be like Christ must be 'filled with the Spirit'. ..., He that would be like Christ, moreover, must study Him. .... He that would be holy must steep himself in the Word. ... It is through the truth that we are sanctified "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John 17:17).

From God's Way of Holiness, by H. Bonar

'Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth
sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them
that are His. And, Let everyone that nameth
the name of Christ depart from iniquity.'
~2 Tim. 2:19b

Holiness (Part One)

"Holiness is likeness to God, to Him Who is the Holy One of Israel, to Him Whom they laud in Heaven as "Holy, holy, holy" (Rev. 4:8). He who would know holiness must understand sin; and he who would see sin as God sees it, and think of it as God does, must look at the cross and grave of the Son of God, must know the meaning of Gethsemane and Golgotha." --H. Bonar

'Awake to righteousness, and sin not,' is God's message to us (1 Cor. 15:34a).

'Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy' (1 Peter 1:15,16).

'I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God' (Rom. 12:1).

'Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;' (Titus 2:12).

'Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. ' (2 Peter 3:14).

'And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. ' (Eph. 5:11).

'But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.' (Rom. 13:14).

'Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; ' (1 Peter 2:11).

"But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye
holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is
written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."
1 Peter 1:15-16
